 We are looking for a Senior Manager, Technical Program Management who will take us to the next level of driving innovation and Solution Incubation in our Chief Technology Office. Our CTO team is built of creative and forward-thinking people driving the business with ground-breaking technologies. We seek leaders who are highly comfortable with uncertainty, and able to navigate ambiguous situations regarding technology or solution advancement. This program manager will lead teams in pursuit of innovative ideas but also be a supervising manager of others. This position will be a player/coach role responsible for driving process and business aspects, coaching and collaborating, and mentoring the less senior TPMs.

 The successful TPM will lead project teams through Incubation Process Gates, with an original idea/concept to ultimate adoption into one of our P&L center business units. During this, you will enjoy a balance of collaboration with business units, and be a cheerleader for valuable ideas and disruptors that not everyone easily sees during early phases.

 Your track record must include experience in technology development, process definition and incubation, product development, program budget management and Agile practices. Scrum master experience a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Team leadership for scaled Agile cross-functional innovation teams. Contribute/promote the development of agile skillset and capabilities within Zebra. Drive execution of solutions inclusive of concept definition, requirements validation, architecture specification, and governance compliance to our Application Lifecycle Management framework.
  • Manages the development and implementation of a company’s products and services to success.
  • Acts as project manager - supervising the program from initiation through delivery including planning and advising schedules and overseeing budget/spending. Gathers input from the project team and acts independently to develop a Project Plan for projects of moderate to significant scope which may include novel products or services. Gathers feedback from the team and to revise and complete the Project Plan as needed
  • May lead multiple moderate to complex scope projects simultaneously, or manage a larger program directly or through oversight of less senior program managers. Programs may be moderate to sophisticated in nature with cross-functional teams in numerous locations and timezones.
  • Nominates and solicits participation of team members from key stakeholder teams including Offer/Product Management, Engineering, Service / support and other functional groups, set timelines and budgets independently. Acts independently to coach team members. Oversees the work of the project team (indirectly supervises) involving members from a wide range of disciplines including engineering, marketing, and operations.
  • Organizes cross-functional activities, ensuring completion of the program i.e. product on schedule and within budget constraints. Owns regular meeting coordination, facilitation and documentation of progress.
  • Gathers status updates from the project team and interprets inputs from the team to assemble a consolidated view of status. Provides regular status updates to senior management as directed. Status reports are expected to be concise summaries, tailored to the audience which may include VP level team members. Owns ensuring alignment from key leaders of milestone achievement before moving the program forward.
  • Can use business/process expertise to identify potential issues, challenge assumptions and effectively participate in solutions discussions. Able to use this knowledge in status updates and presentations, and provide clarifying information where necessary. Understands the strategic business objectives of the program and assumes personal accountability for success of the program against those objectives
  • Anticipates and addresses obstacles or issues that are moderate to significant in severity and escalates complex issues to management for assistance. Independently engages additional resources as needed to address obstacles or delays. Adjusts the plan per management guidelines as delays or obstacles are experienced.
  • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced knowledge / application of basic Program Management techniques and approaches including familiarity with vocabulary. Effectively uses project management tools in scheduling and staffing plans, with an understanding of task durations and dependencies. Develops exhaustive risk management plans. Uses advanced techniques such as Monte Carlo Analysis to determine high-likelihood program durations. Performs critical path analysis to optimize the schedule and minimize the overall duration of the program
  • Demonstrates intermediate to advance knowledge of PMI PMBOK and advanced Project/Program Management techniques and approaches.
  • Solid understanding of leading-edge technologies such as Monte Carlo schedule analysis, Critical Chain management, etc. Experience with a broad array of project management tools and technologies.
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of development processes and product launch scope and activities. Uses experience and knowledge to identify, recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Supports early stage go to market activities and transition to marketing
  • Drive a team passionate about identifying milestones, tracking progress, and is the primary advocate for the respective project team, and “owns the messaging” around the team and the programs.
  • Will be the focal point for a project team ensuring alignment between the customer Business Units and the internal-team activities. Includes shaping team goals and driving creation of value statements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in Engineering or Technical field required/Master's degree preferred
  2. 12+years experience Program Management including minimum 2 years as team supervisor/ manager and/or Project Leadership.
  3. Experience with software development best practices(ideally including Scaled Agile and Continuous Integration; a track record of applying these methodologies.)
  4. Advanced presentation skills required. Demonstrated comfort in addressing mid to senior level cross functional audiences.
  5. Understands complexity to help drive a Systems Engineering view of a project, Offer or Solution across-business. Help team define goals, objectives, and outcomes, and communicates accordingly.  Includes elements of technology that require partnering with outside companies with consistency and has a consistent, shared vision of the overall outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. PMP certification 
  2. Ability to coach / mentor less senior PMs in PM fundamentals
  3. Expert knowledge of advanced concepts with program management approaches, tools and methodologies.
  4. Expertise in cloud technologies and mobile application (Android/IOS) development
  5. Experience in Agile methodologies (Epics, Sprints, Kanban, SAFE), and will have demonstrated competence in Scrum techniques, having previously managed software-centric teams and activities.  The PM will also need to have used tools such as Jira to manage ongoing development and burn-down of issues.
  6. Proven demonstrated experience in some form of Product Lifecycle Management, either in a PLM or ALM framework.
