Senior Transportation Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Transportation Engineer/Office Manager in our Merrillville, Indiana office. This is an opportunity to be involved with a variety of design projects including urban and rural roadways, multi-use paths, park designs and developments. Responsibilities may include technical design, project management, and business development. The essential responsibilities of this position include:

• Lead and manage the technical design of various projects with a strong emphasis on transportation related disciplines.
• Review design plans for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Mentor junior staff, including assignment of tasks and supervision of their work. Develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
• Work closely with client project managers to establish project scope, budgets, timelines and designs.
• Interface with municipal clients including cities, utility districts, selected state agencies.
• Attending conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's services.
• Manage office including personnel, workload, client management and overall project performance metrics such as timeliness and profitability.

Required qualifications for this position include:

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience
• An active PE in the state of Indiana
• Strong knowledge of INDOT project development process, construction documentation and administration
• Familiarity with Indiana state grant programs and Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission
• Experience with Microsoft products, specifically Word and Excel, is required
• Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or MicroStation is preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and relationship building skills
• Excellent problem-solving and decision making skills
• Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to be collaborative
